Nearby Redang Islands worth visiting in Pulau Redang

Redang Island is an archipelago that consists of 9 islands such as Pulau Redang, Pulau Paku Besar, Pulau Lima, Pulau Kerengga Kecil, Pulau Paku Kecil, Pulau Ekor Tebu, Pulau Pinang, Pulau Ling, and Pulau Kerengga Besar. Pulau Redang is the biggest among all the Redang islands in the Marine Park.

Redang Islands

The nearby islands of Redang islands are Pulau Perhentian Kecil, Pulau Perhentian Besar, Pulau Kapas, Pulau Susu Dara, Pulau Lang Tengah, and Pulau Bidong. Among these nearby islands, only Lang Tengah, Kapas, and Perhentian have resort for accommodation. All these islands are situated nearby. Redang islands offer great variety of activities to the tourists.



Perhentian Islands

Perhentian islands consist of Pulau Perhentian Kecil and Pulau Perhentian Besar, and are situated in Terengganu state in West Malaysia. These two islands are located near Redang islands. Pulau Perhentian Kecil is the small Perhentian and Pulau Perhentian Besar is the large Perhentian. In these islands, Kelantanese Malay is widely spoken, yet English is also used as a language to accommodate tourists.

Resorts are available for the tourists to stay in these islands. The islands are accessible by speed boats from Kuala Besut ferry terminal. Getting around the islands is possible by using water taxis or walking. The popular activities among tourists in Perhentian islands are snorkeling, scuba diving, jungle trekking, sunbathing, kayaking, and watching turtles.

Pulau Kapas

Pulau Kapas is a picturesque island, which is accessible within 15 minutes from the Marang village. Luxurious resorts for accommodation is in Gemia Island, which is an islet situated around a hundred meters away from Kapas. Pulau Kapas is an excellent snorkeling destination for the tourists. Pulau Susu

Since there are no resorts in the island, you have to arrange your accommodation in any of the Perhentian islands to enjoy snorkeling trips.



Pulau Lang Tengah

Pulau Lang Tengah is in proximity with Redang islands with crystal-clear waters and coral reef that make it a haven for the snorkelers and scuba divers. The island is blessed with a tropical rainforest with rich flora and fauna. The presence of rainforest allows the tourists to enjoy jungle trekking. Pulau Lang Tengah is just 30 minutes from Redang islands by speedboat. This island is perfect for a day trip. You can get a boat chartered to visit this island. If you are going to visit Lang Tengah as part of the package, then you can take a boat from Merang jetty.

There are several diving sites in Pulau Lang Tengah. Some of the popular diving sites are Yellow Reef, Karang Nibong, Tanjung Nibong, Tanjung Telunjuk, Tanjog Nibong Laut, house reefs, and Batu Bulan. Snorkeling also is a popular activity in the island. Four resorts are offering accommodation for the tourists in Pulau Lang Tengah such as Blue Coral Island Resort, D’Coconut Lagoon, Lang Sari Resort, and Redang Lang Island Resort.

Pulau Bidong

Pulau Bidong itself is an archipelago with 6 islands such as Pulau Yu Kechil, Batu Tengkorak, Pulau Bidong, Pulau Karah, Pulau Gelok, and Pulau Yu Besar. It was once the Vietnamese refugee camp. The ban on visiting this archipelago was lifted only in the year 1999. The ban was issued due to the distance of the island from Redang. Some of the best diving sites in this island are Pulau Yu Kecil, Batu Tengkorak, Pulau Gelok, and Pulau Yu Besar. You cannot see any resorts in Pulau Bidong, so you should find an accommodation in some other islands nearby.
