Pulau Redang is one of the favorite tourist destination in Malaysia for tourists looking for getaway holidays in a tropical setting. The sandy beaches of Redang, rich marine life, Islands, snorkeling, diving & other water sports attract plenty of tourists round the year.
Pulau Redang Airport is a small airport located in Redang Island, Malaysia. Redang Island Airport is more like an airstrip than an airport. The only airlines that serve Redang Airport is Berjaya Air. The Pulau Redang Airport is opened by Berjaya Air and this airport is situated nearby Taaras Beach & Spa Resort (previously named as Berjaya Redang Spa Resort).
Berjaya Air is the only airlines that provide direct flights from Singapore’s Changi Airport Budget Terminal and Kuala Lumpur’s Subang Airport to Redang Island. The journey time of Berjaya Air from Kuala Lumpur to Redang Island is one hour and from Singapore to Redang Island is 80 minutes. One way flight charge from Kuala Lumpur to Redang Island Airport is RM249 (Malaysian Ringgits) and from Singapore to Redang Airport is RM350.
Redang Island Airport Facilities
The airport has only one building without air-condition, in which you can find two separate halls for arrival and departure. At the airport, there are two commercial shops that are selling souvenirs. The baggage of the passengers is collected by the baggage crew and bring them to the arrival, from where the passengers can claim their baggage. There are no conveyor belts for the baggage, so that the passengers can take the bags from the conveyor belts. After receiving the baggage and clearing the immigration formalities, the passengers can come outside to board the coaches that are waiting for them to their respective resorts.
Accessibility to the Resorts
Most of the resorts in Redang Island are situated in close proximity to the Redang Airport. There are roads from the airport to Berjaya’s resorts and also to the fishing port. If you’re going to any other resorts or places from the Pulau Redang Airport, you should hire a car and ferry service to reach the destination. Some resorts have their own ferry services that usually start from Merang jetty to the resorts. Some resorts use public ferry service at the Shahbandar jetty to Kampung jetty in Redang Island, from where the passengers transfer to the boats going to various resorts. In most cases, the ferry service charge is included in the package deal of the resort.

Kuala Terengganu Airport
Apart from Pulau Redang Airport, the passengers can fly to Kuala Terengganu Airport to reach Redang Island as well. Kuala Terengganu is an important gateway to different Marine Park islands such as Lang Tengah, Redang, Gemia, Tenggol, Perhentian, Kapas, and Bidong Islands. Air Asia and Malaysian Airlines offer daily flights to Kuala Terengganu Airport from Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Around 45 minutes is required to reach Kuala Terengganu from Kuala Lumpur.
There flights from Singapore to Kuala Terengganu are via Kuala Lumpur. If you would like to fly from Singapore, then you have to fly through Kuala Lumpur which is a costly affair. The cheapest option to fly from Singapore is to fly from Senai Airport in Air Asia or Malaysian Airlines, but takes more time because of the land travel between Singapore and Senai. You can opt for Malaysian Airline, Firefly, Singapore Airline, Silkair & AirAsia and the flight is about 3 to 4 hours long.
Kuala Terengganu to Redang Island
After arriving at the Kuala Terengganu Airport, the passengers can head to Merang jetty to take the ferry service to Redang Island. To reach Merang jetty, you can hire an airport taxi. The journey time from the airport to Merang jetty is 40 minutes and the one way taxi fare will be RM50 per cab. From Merang jetty to Redang Island, the passengers have to spend 40 minutes in a boat. The resorts that are transferring passengers from Merang jetty are Redang Reef, Redang Pelangi, Redang Bay, Redang Holiday, Ayu Mayang, Laguna Redang, Redang Mutiara, and Redang Kalong.
Another option is to go to the Shahbandar jetty from Kuala Terengganu Airport by a taxi, which takes around 20 minutes. The one way taxi fare to Shahbandar jetty is RM25 per cab. The resorts that are transferring guests from the Shahbandar jetty are Redang Lagoon, Berjaya Redang, Redang Beach Resort, and Coral Redang. The journey time from the Shahbandar jetty to Redang Island is about 1 hour & 30 minutes.
